ORDERS OF BUSINESS

I. School Updates

a. Closure/Half Day

 OWN2 is currently open and operating full day in-person learning

 School Closure Calendar will be updated with all future planned Half Days

 Next school half days are scheduled to be on March 9 th and 10 th

b. COVID/TTS

 COVID Test to Stay policy has been initiated at OWN2 with the purpose to

keep kids in school as safe as possible

 Once a positive COVID test is reported, everyone in the classroom will need

to follow the TTS policy. Every child will be sent home with a box containing

TWO (2) home rapid COVID tests on the day of notification of COVID contact

i. First COVID test must be done on the day of notification (Day Zero) in

order to return to school the next day (Day 1). If a test is positive or a

parent does not wish to have their child COVID tested, then the child

will be required to stay home and begin the quarantine period.

ii. Second COVID test must be done on Day 5 regardless of the results

of the first test.

 If the test is once again Negative the child can continue

attending in-person learning and thus would not have had any

interruptions with in person school attendance.

 If a parent opted out of the first testing day (Day Zero) this day

is the next opportunity the child would have take the COVID

test and return to school on Day 6 with a negative result.

(Tests can only be submitted on Days 1 and 5).

 If a child submitted a positive COVID test on Day Zero, but on

Day 5 has a negative test AND has no symptoms, the child

can return to in-person learning on day 6.

 If a child with a positive COVID test on Day Zero also has a

positive COVID test on Day 5 and/or continues to have

symptoms they will then be required to complete the entire 10-

day quarantine period at home.

 After the full 10-day quarantine, the child will then be able to

automatically return to in-person learning on Day 11 (if no

symptoms). No further COVID test submission required. As per

DOH, at this point the child will be beyond the period of

transmission

 Hybrid Learning: Throughout the 10-day classroom quarantine period hybrid

learning will be offered for ONLY the quarantined class. Students who participate in

TTS will be in person and students that are at home on quarantine will have remote

learning. Classroom teachers will be providing educational instruction to all

students and quarantined students at home will follow the in-school schedule for a

full day of lessons.

 The Hybrid home school schedule and the Remote home school schedule

(that children have when the ENTIRE school is closed) are DIFFERENT. Hybrid

learning is only offered to students in the classrooms that have to be

quarantined due to COVID.

 Once the 10-day quarantine period has been completed, Hybrid

Learning will NO LONGER be offered. If a parent opts to keep their

child home after the quarantined period is over it will be considered an

unexcused absence.

 COVID Testing- The school continues to provide on-site COVID testing on

Wednesdays for 1 st grade and up. Parents should complete permission form

for COVID testing in order to help keep the kids safe and COVID numbers low

 COVID Guidelines – because of the ever-changing guidelines, Mr. Ferguson

remains in regular contact with DOH and receives up-to-date policies and

guidelines for school learning. OWN is also working with DOH to track the

COVID cases and determine whether the cases happening are school-wide,

classroom-wide or if contact came from a source outside of the school.

c. Remote Learning

 Last week the school moved to complete Remote Learning following our

return from Winter Break from 1/3/22 to 1/7/22

 Parents had concerns regarding the remote school day finishing before the

determined 8:05a – 12pm schedule. Parents also felt there were too many

different links and apps to navigate throughout the learning day

 As per Mr. Wilkins, if we need to go remote again in the future, parents can

reach out to classroom teachers directly and request a daily schedule to

ensure that it is being followed. As per Mr. McLean, teachers provide the

students with separate time to do I-Ready learning and the specialty classes

are also added into the remote learning schedule which require their own

zoom link access.

d. After-School

 Sylvan Test Prep is set to start next week 1/17/22 for children in grades 3, 4,

5

If you are already enrolled with Sylvan tutoring you will not be able to do both

after-school tutoring and Test Prep.

 Parents expressed concerns with the lack of communication received by

Sylvan and requested if school can assist with bridging the gap for things

such as program closures/openings and start dates

 Summer Program- next week school leadership will begin discussing the

different summer program options that can possibly be offered. The school

will reach out to the parents once the programs have been solidified

e. Trucks/Tractor Trailers

 Parents have concerns about the about of large trucks and tractor trailers that

are constantly parked on the street in front of the school

 Mr. Wilkins and Mr. McLean have spoken to city council as well as the

building owners regarding the safety of the children around the trucks

 Mr. Wilkins will work with the parents in drafting a letter to city council as well

 Mr. Wilkins to provide PTO with the dates of upcoming City Council meetings

and all parents will be encouraged to attend or sign petition to have the

allowable time for trucks to park on the street in front of the school changed

available between 8am and 9am. Please call the main office to schedule.
